Ah, the Palace of Versailles. Completed (and decked out) by King Louis XIV before his untimely, though some might say slightly deserved?, death, the Palace of Versailles takes wealth and opulence to a whole other level. I don’t care how many castles you’ve visited in Europe, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve seen that hall of mirrors in person. Wow. Luckily for those of who are nosy aka love a little bit of history, the Versailles is super accessible from Paris. Below you’ll find the details of traveling from Paris to Versailles by train.
The New Paris Metro Map
This link shows you the new Paris metro map and in the bottom left corner of the map, you’ll see the Chateau of Versailles. Additionally, when you zoom out, you’ll notice that you can get to this part of the map by train from just about anywhere within the city. Some locations may require a transfer.
When traveling to Paris to Versailles by train, your stop will be Versailles Chantiers. Once you leave the train station, you’ll walk up a slight hill and take a left. The walk is easy but can be tiring if unprepared so wear comfortable shoes (for all the walking inside the Palace as well).
When we went to Versailles last summer, we took the train from Gare Montparnasse near our hotel to the Versailles Chantiers stop. From here, it was a nice 10-15 minute stroll to the front of the Palace.
Easy Peasy
That’s it! That’s the post.
Good luck!
